“Touch” starring Kiefer Sutherland officially premieres on FOX March 19, but you can watch the pilot for free now on the FOX website.
It’s interesting to me that show creators keep trying the theme of human interconnectivity. It never seems to last long, whether the show is canceled like “Six Degrees” or they abandon the storyline like on “Lost.” Tim Kring tried it as well in “Heroes” but never really made it into anything substantial. Kring is back at it again full force with “Touch” and based on the plot alone, it has about as much chance as “Six Degrees” did. It was definitely interesting, but the magic of it seemed to outweigh the practicality for me. Luckily, the show has more going for it than the story. FOX brought back Kiefer Sutherland and his patented running-out-of-time urgency face. He alone probably outperforms everyone in the “Six Degrees” cast put together. The other saving grace with this show is the fact that they can make each episode self-contained. Most likely, that’s what did “Six Degrees” in. They tried to show how these random people were connected but you couldn’t miss an episode of the continuing storyline. Based on the pilot, “Touch” seems to be set up to show connections between different random people each episode with the only constant being Sutherland and his son as the only ones not acting randomly.
I would recommend giving this a try. I really would like to see how the human interconnectivity theme plays out long-term.
